I’ve been having fun playing foursquare for the past few weeks but have noticed that the Atlanta area (especially the areas surrounding Atlanta) are not really fleshed out in terms of venues. The idea of foursquare is that you check-in whenever you go somewhere and earn points based on where and how often you check-in. It’s really easy if the venue you are currently at is already in the system, but is a pain if not.
Wanting to add several of the places I attend regularly, I was going through the web interface and adding places by copying and pasting the business info from Yelp.com. I decided it was a pain and wrote a little greasemonkey script, that when you have it install will add a foursquare image to yelp business pages, and will fill out the form on foursquare for you. It is pretty basic in that you need to verify that the venue is not already in foursquare and that you are logged in before adding, but it has helped me flesh out the areas I go really easily.
If you aren’t playing foursquare, join in! It’s fun, and be sure to add me as a friend.
